Psalm 139 Part 1

Nov 2, 2025    Pastor Nathan Harvey

This powerful message invites us into the liberating truth that God fully and completely knows us—and that this knowledge is not something to fear, but rather our greatest source of comfort. Drawing from Psalm 139, we discover four foundational pillars that assure us of God's intimate knowledge: He sees the unseen parts of us that we try to hide, He knows the real us that He created us to be, He understands the heart within us before words even form on our tongues, and despite knowing everything about us, He extends relentless grace and mercy. The sermon challenges our tendency to curate a 'facade of perfection'—showing only our golden, shiny parts while keeping the rest in shadow. But God's gaze penetrates every exterior, resting on our internal reality with love rather than condemnation. This truth should transform how we approach God, freeing us from performance-based religion and inviting us into the raw, honest intimacy that David and Job experienced. When we understand that God already knows our judgmental moments, our insecurities, our gossip, our selfishness, and our doubts—yet still calls us sons and daughters—we can abandon shame and run into His arms. The message culminates with the beautiful restoration of Peter, whose three denials were met with three opportunities to affirm his love by the charcoal fire, reminding us that God's knowledge of our failures is always paired with His vision for our future.
