This powerful message invites us to embrace a profound truth: God values the process of our transformation as much as the final destination. Drawing from Joseph's remarkable journey in Genesis 37-50, we discover that the path from promise to fulfillment is rarely straightforward. Joseph's story takes us through eight distinct phases: from favored son to pit, from property to Potiphar's house, from prison to prime minister, and finally to forgiver and fulfillment. This twenty-year journey wasn't punishment but preparation. The message challenges us to reframe our understanding of trials, delays, and setbacks. Like a photograph being developed in a darkroom, the testing doesn't create our purpose but reveals it. The chemicals don't make the image; they bring forth what was already captured. Similarly, our trials don't create who we are meant to be; they reveal the person God always intended us to become. Psalm 105:19 reminds us that the word of the Lord tested Joseph, refining him until his promise came true. When we face difficulties, we often wonder if God has forgotten us or if we've become disqualified. But the truth is transformative: it didn't happen to us, it happened for us. God is making us someone in the process, not just taking us somewhere. The question becomes: what word, promise, or dream is currently testing us? Can we trust that God is developing our character, preparing us for the moment when we'll need the right heart to make the right decisions and extend grace rather than judgment?
